Arizona Helping Hands Donations

Nov. 1 through Dec. 15 
Help us to collect new, non-holiday patterned pajamas and books for Arizona Helping Hands this holiday season. You can donate hardcover books for infants to toddlers or teenage reading genres. Pajamas are needed for all sizes, but especially teens that are size L or XL.

Items can be dropped off at the GCA Office Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or residents can purchase off of the Amazon Wish List and have items delivered directly to the office. To show our gratitude, all adult residents who contribute to the donation drive will receive a special a drink ticket to be used at any of the fourth quarter events, including the Welcome Back Snowbirds mixer, Holly-Jolly Happy Hour or the Breakfast with Santa. It’s our way of saying “cheers” for your kindness and community spirit.

Welcome Back Snowbirds Mixer

Join us on Nov. 16 from 6-8 p.m. for this 21+ event on the indoor-outdoor Red View Terrace overlook deck of the Hilton Cavasson. For just $35 per person, enjoy appetizers, one drink ticket and a live musician. The outdoor deck will have heaters and firepits. Anticipate desert winter weather for this evening event and dress warmly. Space is limited. Register by Nov.7.

Plant it Forward Logo

Grayhawk homeowners are encouraged to propagate plants in their own yards and donate them to the Association for DLC to use throughout the community during the fall planting season through the Plant it Forward program. Learn more about the program, including when you can donate your plants, by visiting the GCA website. 
  
Fall donations dates are schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and Wednesday, Oct. 25. Donations can be dropped off in a box either day by 1 p.m. at any of the following locations. 

  • Monterey Park Tot Lot- E. Whistling Wind Way and N. 74th Way 
  • Windsong Mailbox- E. White Tail Way and N. 76th Way
  • Peregrine Pool (for Retreat Village residents only)- E. Angel Spirit Way and N. 82nd Way
  • Los Vientos Pool (for Retreat residents only)- E. Windwood Ln. and N. 81st Pl.

If you aren’t sure how to go about propagating a plant, you’re in luck! Landscape Committee Chairperson Arlene Smith and resident plant guru Victoria Kauzlarich (author of “Our Desert, Our Home”  in The Grayhawk Flight) created a how-to video walking viewers through the easy steps of propagating various desert plants.

City of Scottsdale Bulk Trash

Scottsdale Brush and Bulk collection will take place in Grayhawk the week of Oct. 30. Items must be placed for pickup by 5 a.m. on Oct. 30. Stack items neatly, parallel to the street on your front property line. Bulk waste piles and green waste piles should be placed at least 3 feet from each other. Visit the City of Scottsdale website for more information.

Assessment Reminder

Please remember that your GCA and RVA third quarter assessments were due Oct. 1 and will be considered late after Oct. 30. As a reminder, the bank used for payments has changed. Visit the Pay Your Assessment section of our website to review your payment options. Payments can also be dropped off at 7940 E. Thompson Peak Pkwy. M-F from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or in the mail slot in the door.

Transponder Installation

Installations for this week will occur on Monday from 8-9 a.m., Tuesday from 2-3 p.m., Wednesday from 9-10 a.m., Thursday from 12-1 p.m. and Friday from 8-9 a.m. at the GCA office (7940 E Thompson Peak Pkwy #102).
